There are 5 separate driving tours in Clarke County near the northernmost tip of Virginia, near the West Virginia border. Some tours are loops and will take the traveler back to the starting point. Most of the homes listed on the driving tour are private residences and are not open for tours. Tours 3 and 5 have some graveled sections. Some of the routes include U-turns and a bit of backtracking to see all the historic homes, chapels, and Revolutionary and Civil War sites and also to make efficient use of driving time.
