The Appalachian Waters Scenic Byway has breathtaking views as it travels westward through forests from Lexington to West Virginia. Make time to get out of the car and hike, swim, or kayak in the many rivers it crosses. Stop at Blowing Springs Recreation Area and fish for trout or check out the unique geological feature of a duct that blows air out of the rocks at a consistent 58 degrees. Stop at Hidden Valley Recreational Area to see the 60-acre hidden lake near the crest of Brumley Mountain. Stop and hike the many trails, do some bird-watching, or stay and camp in the campground. The byway continues into West Virginia.
