Socorro Historical District Scenic Byway
Socorro’s architecture and Historical District unveils the history of the community beginning with the San Miguel Mission and the community’s progression from a quiet colonial town, to a wild mining town, to the modern town it is today. The Socorro Wheel of History is a bronze sculpture that tells the 400-year history of the Piro Indian pueblos, Spanish Colonial settlement, mining boomtown, and the present center science and technology.
