Take State 12 between South Sioux City and Valentine to enjoy some of Nebraska’s top outdoor areas. Stop at Smith Falls State Park and Valentine National Wildlife Refuge. The Turtle Butte Lodge serves as a base for hunting, fishing, and wildlife tours. Stop at the St. James Market Place in Wynot for art, woodcarvings, and baked goods. The Santee Sioux Reservation’s Ohiya Resort and Casino offers a restaurant, entertainment, and a heated indoor pool. Pack your clubs to golf at Tatanka Golf Resort, a destination golf trip on a gorgeous and unique course. This scenic course was named Best New Course in the Golf Digest in 2014 after it was built. Stay at the casino to make a longer trip. The picturesque Niobrara State Park overlooks the confluence of the Niobrara and Missouri Rivers. Disconnect to Reconnect here while you stay in cabins with the most beautiful views overlooking the rivers. This is one of the only parks where horse trail rides are offered seasonally.
