White River Scenic Road
The White River Scenic Road (State Route 73) begins near Hon-Dah in the Fort Apache Indian Reservation and follows the North Fork of the White River into Fort Apache. Stop at the Alchesay-Williams Creek National Fish Hatchery Complex. The hatchery is known for its role in the recovery of the Apache trout. It also raises other trout for stocking primarily Indian lands in Arizona and western New Mexico. Traveling on southwesterly, visit the White Mountain Apache Cultural Center and the Fort Apache Historical Park in Fort Apache. Then taking a sharp turn westward, the Kinishba Ruin, a 600-room Mogollon great house archaeological site, will be to the north. More from National Scenic Byway Foundation →
