The route traverses through rolling terrain of marshes, woodlands and farm filed bounded by stone walls. About halfway along the road is Shannock Village, a small well-preserved historic rural textile mill village. Small mills such as this were constructed on southern Rhode Island waterways and villages grew around them to hose the workers. This village is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
