Holoholo Koloa Scenic Byway

Map of Holoholo Koloa Scenic Byway - scenic route

The term “holoholo” means to go for a drive or a ride. How appropriate as this byway begins on the Maluhia Road on the island of Kauai and travels past time-worn cliffs and lush rainforests. Drive through a magical tree tunnel as it transports you into the old sugar plantation of Koloa then to the recently discovered ancient village of Kaneiolouma Heliau. Travel past salt ponds, Poipu Beach, Pau a Laka (sacred hula mound), and the National Tropical Botanical Garden with its large collection of endangered plant species. The island of Kauai is the oldest of the eight major Hawaiian Islands and offers many historical sites along the byway route. More from National Scenic Byway Foundation →
