Named for the many steep inclines and sharp curves, the Pig Tail may be likened to riding a rollercoaster. Trees near the roadside offer shade in the summer and brilliant colors in autumn. Little development has occurred along the byway, giving the traveler a glimpse of how early settlers experienced the Ozarks.
