Benzie-Manistee Byway M-22

The route travels from Traverse City northward along the west shores of Grand Traverse Bay to Northport where it heads back south along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan and ends near the Manistee County line. The route’s numerous turns and majestic hills amplify the scenic views. The mostly two-lane road has 4 scenic pullouts and one major scenic overlook. The visitor will find lighthouses, a look-out tower, campgrounds, and museums along the way and the entire route has water recreation and wildlife viewing opportunities. The area is a vibrant blaze of reds, yellows, and golds in the fall as the leaves change.
