America Tropical Interpretive Center

Commissioned in 1932, famed Mexican artist David Alfaro Siqueiros created a monumental mural depicting an overgrown jungle with a crucified Indian peasant, which was deemed too controversial and whitewashed within a few years of its unveiling. After a 20-year Getty-City of Los Angeles project, the restored mural is now on view.story

Arturo Sandoval

A protégé of the legendary jazz master Dizzy Gillespie, Sandoval was born in Artemisa, a small town in the outskirts of Havana, Cuba, on November 6, 1949. He has since evolved into one of the world’s most acknowledged guardians of jazz trumpet and flugelhorn, as well as a renowned classical artist, pianist and composer.
