About

The New York outpost of Somtum Der was founded by Thanaruek (Eh) Laoraowirodge and long-time family friends Supanee Kitmahawong and Phakphoom Srisuwat, who brought the authentic Isan cuisine from their Michelin-starred Bangkok location to NYC. The restaurant features a central somtum bar where every dish is freshly prepared in imported mortar and pestle, creating an energetic cooking experience for diners.
