Officially formed in 2025, Dead Magnolia String Band plays traditional, hard-driving bluegrass while occasionally reaching outside the genre, working everything from blues and soul to honky-tonk and even grunge into their string-band arrangements. The members found each other through New Orleans’ long-running Monday Night Pickin’ Party.

New Orleans guitarist and songwriter Mike Doussan takes the stage at NOLA Brewing with a pretty special version of his trio — featuring Chris Roberts on bass and August Doussan, on drums. Mike has been part of the New Orleans music scene for years, bringing together blues, funk, rock and the musical influences of the city.

The Bluegrass Pickin' Party is an open acoustic bluegrass jam. Bring your guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, bass, dobro, harmonica, or singing voice to join the jam circle.
