Seeds that germinate by fire, fronds that come back from the dead, and leaves that resemble stones are just some of the unique adaptations plants have evolved to stay alive. From the wetlands of the Carolinas to the grasslands of South Africa, we'll take a look at some of the strategies that plants have developed to 'outrun and outlast' the competition.

This 6-week class will help you begin drawing by looking closely and spending time with nature, focusing on line, composition, shading, texture, and color. Led by instructor Judy Cobillas, participants will explore different aspects of drawing in each session, including classroom demonstrations and visits to different areas of the Garden.

Join Wendy Hollender, author and speaker, for this 3-hour workshop to draw flowers by identifying their geometry and patterns that plants in the same family share. The session includes quick sketches, detailed drawings, and a walk in the Garden to identify plants in a family.
