The vision behind The Tull Project is simple and uncompromising: to honor the music of Jethro Tull with depth, integrity, and musicianship equal to the material itself. ​Rather than imitation or nostalgia, the Tull Project focuses on musical substance—dynamic arrangements, tonal detail, rhythmic drive, and expressive storytelling. Drawing primarily from Tull’s most influential decade (1968–1978), the band explores the breadth and depth of the catalog, from the early blues-rock foundations of This Was and Stand Up through the muscular, socially incisive rock of Aqualung and the brilliant prog rock of Thick as a Brick, to the pastoral, folk-inflected works of Songs from the Wood and Heavy Horses.​At the heart of The Tull Project is flutist, vocalist, and bandleader Sean Grace—a highly accomplished musician and multi-instrumentalist whose career bridges classical, Celtic folk traditions, jazz, and progressive rock. That rare intersection makes him a natural and authentic interpreter of the music of Jethro Tull. ​ Grace’s connection to Tull's music is lifelong. As a young flutist, he was profoundly influenced by Ian Anderson, who redefined the role of the flute in rock music—making it expressive, aggressive, and unmistakably central. For Grace, this opened a new musical vocabulary rooted in texture, storytelling, and raw energy. Jethro Tull’s fusion of acoustic and electric elements, complex arrangements, and stylistic range left a lasting imprint that would resurface throughout his career. ​Grace’s approach to the material places the flute back at the center of the music, echoing the adventurous spirit that originally set Tull apart while allowing space for fresh interpretation. The result is a performance that feels alive, grounded, and musically intentional—faithful to the source without becoming novelty or reenactment.Backing Grace is a lineup of seasoned professional musicians drawn from the Philadelphia music scene, each with deep experience in rock, jazz, and acoustic traditions.
