An educational program exploring how energy flows from the sun through an ecosystem, including how plants and animals interact, how animals grow, move, and stay warm, and the role of bacteria and fungi.

Upper Elementary School (Grade 3-6) guided school programs where volunteer Garden Guides introduce, demonstrate and reinforce ideas included in K-8 Cross-Curricular Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards for California Public Schools.

Essential Question: How are plants and animals adapted to survive in different habitats? Supporting Questions: a. What are the characteristics of a desert, chaparral, riparian, and coastal redwood habitat? b. What are some inherited and physical adaptations that help a plant or animal survive in its environment?
