The Western goes Northern in Zacharias Kunuk’s masterful third feature, co-directed with ATANARJUAT actor Natar Ungalaaq. This captivating, crystalline rescue-revenge story, set across the Arctic tundra of 1913 Nunavut, has an Inuk caribou hunter in pursuit of marauders who ravaged his home and abducted his wife.

Abandoned by her family as an unwed mother and sold as a prostitute to soldiers by a traveling salesman, Josephine Monaghan (Suzy Amis) decides to live as a man. As ‘Jo,’ she settles in the shabby mining town of Ruby City and becomes a frontiersman.
