About

Commissioned in 1932, famed Mexican artist David Alfaro Siqueiros created a monumental mural depicting an overgrown jungle with a crucified Indian peasant, which was deemed too controversial and whitewashed within a few years of its unveiling. After a 20-year Getty-City of Los Angeles project, the restored mural is now on view.story
