In this extraordinary film, Brooklyn-based journalist and director Tim Chaffee explores the life and work of his mother, Dr. Barbara Chaffee, a public health doctor in Binghamton, New York, who confronted the synonymous epidemics of drug addiction, AIDS, and HIV in the 1980s and ’90s. Through living memory and archival footage, Tim documents his mother’s steadfast commitment to a small upstate community that came together to respond to one of the first modern public health crises.
