The Kitchen

Founded in 1971 by video artists Woody and Steina Vasulka, this Chelsea institution was initially an artist collective operating out of the former kitchen of the Mercer Arts Center. It quickly became a vital space for experimental artists, helping to launch the careers of figures like Philip Glass and Talking Heads.story
