About America Tropical Interpretive Center

Commissioned in 1932, famed Mexican artist David Alfaro Siqueiros created a monumental mural depicting an overgrown jungle with a crucified Indian peasant, which was deemed too controversial and whitewashed within a few years of its unveiling. After a 20-year Getty-City of Los Angeles project, the restored mural is now on view.story

Every work of art begins from a POINT OF VIEW—shaped by where one stands, the experiences one carries, and the social and cultural environments that inform one’s perspective. The exhibition explores how conceptual, physical, emotional, cultural, and political perspectives influence the ways we see and understand the world.
