Moustapha Alassane’s 'An Adventurer’s Homecoming' is a brilliant comedy that intertwines West African and European modernization plots with outlaw gang and frontier-town-under-attack narratives, often called 'the first African western.' Kevin Jerome Everson’s 'Ten Five in the Grass' examines the craft of the black cowboy by observing the rituals of horse grooming, riding, and roping in Natchez, Mississippi.
