In the Blink of an Eye: A Musical Memoir

A long-simmering feud between two rival families comes to a boil when young Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet try to step across the line drawn in the sand. One of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies, no matter how many times we see it, we still hold out hope that this time it will end differently.

This performance series unfolds across the museum, moving between the Hammer’s galleries and outdoor spaces. Each iteration of the performance begins with a unique vignette formed by six performers and props.

Drawing from over 200 interviews, journal entries, and news reports, this moving production brings to life the voices of Laramie, Wyoming, following the tragic hate crime that took the life of Matthew Shepard.
