A tour of England’s many musical characters: warmth in Anna Clyne’s Within Her Arms, a loving ode to her late mother; sparkle and bite in Benjamin Britten’s Piano Concerto, championed by soloist Leif Ove Andsnes; and noble humanity in Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations, an affectionate series of portraits with the famous “Nimrod” at its heart.
