Buffalo Bayou as Relative: A Walk & Community Dialogue on Rights of Nature

Sunday, September 13, 2026
“Buffalo Bayou as Relative” is a two-day public program that brings together Indigenous leaders, environmental justice advocates, legal scholars, artists, and Houston residents to explore the possibility of recognizing Buffalo Bayou as a living entity with inherent rights. Through a contemplative gathering at the Rothko Chapel and a guided walk along the bayou, participants will engage in dialogue, reflection, and collective visioning rooted in the global Rights of Nature movement.
